How to store and serve macarons

The fridge, 20 minutes at room temperature and no rush — simple rules to bring out the flavour.

Macarons are a fresh dessert with no preservatives, so storing them properly matters.

In the fridge

Keep macarons in a closed box in the fridge for up to 5 days. The box protects them from odours and excess moisture.

Before serving

Take the macarons out of the fridge 15–20 minutes before serving. At room temperature the filling softens and the flavour becomes brighter.

What to serve them with

The best matches are black coffee, green or herbal tea and sparkling wine. Berry flavours go beautifully with champagne; chocolate and coffee ones with espresso.
